Book Review: Clover (Flower Child, #1) - Moxie Darling

Synopsis:

On a mission to bring the love of literacy to impoverished rural children, Clover Willoughby finds herself stranded on a dry, dusty West Virginia back road. Out of gas, out of service, and out of patience, she starts walking. When she stumbles across a quaint cabin in the woods, she's relieved at her good fortune. Her relief turns to trepidation—and anticipation—when the rough, crude mountain man living there offers to assist her . . . for a price. And he's not interested in money. THIS BOOK WAS PREVIOUSLY TITLED PENETRATED ON PONETOWN. This is the first novella in a planned series. It is NOT a full-length book. (Disclaimer: this novella is for adults only. It contains explicit sex, rough sex, ménage situations, sex with strangers, and taboo elements that some might find offensive.)

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Clover Willoughby is stranded in the middle of nowhere in West Virginia. She is nearly out of gas, no cell reception and decides to search for help. Along the way, she stumbles on a cabin in the woods and a crude mountain main named Jim. They make a deal exchanging sex with him and his son for a week for a tank of gas.

What in the hell was the author thinking when they decided to write this? I don’t mind books in the erotic genre, or even reading something where a character trades sex for something. However, this is beyond comprehension. Who in their right mind would ever agree to sex with two random dirty hillbillies for a week in exchange for a tank of gas? To top it all off, Clover gets aroused by both men and lets the father take her from behind ten minutes after she gets to their house.

I will say the author was on point with grammar and spelling. The story itself was way too rushed though and maybe had potential to be a better story if it were stretched out more so we could understand why she would agree to this. All we knew of her past was she used to be a hippie living in a commune.

Clover got stranded in the middle of nowhere when her vehicle ran out of gas. After walking a while, Clover comes upon a cabin where Jim and his son, Eustice, reside. Without a phone, Jim offers Clover to fill her tank with gas if she has sex with him and his son for a week. Eustice had never been with a woman so Clover would be teaching him the ways. There is just something about this story that seems so unreal. Why would a girl agree to have sex for a week with two country hillbillies that are not clean? And then Clover ends up finding a romantic feeling for one of them. I know, it’s a book, it’s fiction – however it just didn’t seem a likely scenario. I couldn't get past the unclean country folk part. If it had been two hot guys, then of course, I could see some one agreeing so easily. If you are looking for a quick smut read about a father/son sharing a female (and can get past the unclean hillbillies) then you would like this book.
