Book Review: Protecting His Forever - LeAnn Ashers

The book had the makings to be a great book. However, I feel the story was lacking Kane’s perspective greatly. The story was centered around Sydney and the dangers she faced. Kane protecting her was key. Showing his perspective would have made the story much better. I also felt that parts of the story were thrown together for an added effect, but didn’t fit that well. The book itself was well written and is a nice read. Instead of jumping ahead the 15 years, I would have preferred the author write additional books. I was provided a copy for an honest review.
Protecting His Forever was a good read. I felt that there were a few chapters that were placed in there with no real purpose. It seemed there were a lot of events added to add intrigue and mystery however for me I felt they were thrown together to entice but didn’t seem to fit well. I felt the story could have been written a lot smoother and would have held my attention better and make me want to know what would happen next. It had a feeling of being rushed when it came to the meat of the story. I think the story line was good and has potential to be a great book; it just needed some touching up. I think the book could have given a little more background into the lives of the main characters. They came together in the beginning and it was like they knew each other but not really. Was there history there? How did they know each other? I liked the idea of the challenges of the children being thrown into their lives however I think when it came to Carter, being that he was older, realistically it would have taken a lot longer to get past the rough life and to feel happiness and safety in his new family. Instead of jumping fifteen years later, I think the book could have projected the information in a separate book. I could see it develop into a series and branch out with different characters – Carter, Arabella, the twins, Braelyn & Ethan, Chase & Jessica. Overall with some tweaks, I think it could be a great story with series potential.
