Book Review: The Campus Killer (Detective Ryan Series Book 1) - Andrew Hess
Ali Ryan is a tough girl detective determined to prove that the murder at her sister’s campus is not a suicide but an actual murder. Ali is aggressive and doesn’t back down from her intuition. I liked being able to see the story from Ali’s perspective; seeing what she does from her view point and what she is feeling at the moment. I could feel the frustrations that Ali goes through when her Lieutenant wouldn’t believe her and kept shutting her down.
As I went through the book I wanted to know who was the killer, who kept murdering people. Once I started reading the book I couldn’t put it down. There are so many twists and turns in the books that just about the time you think you know something then you will be faced with yet another twist.
The author does a great job of getting into the minds of the characters. The author leaves little crumbs throughout the book that you start putting together to try to find out who the killer is. The mystery and suspense in the book is fantastic leaving you want to know more.
The overall story appeared to be well thought out and flowed well from beginning to end. There was extra details and twists that you don’t see coming.
The book is written in true Hess fashion. At the end of the book I wanted to reach through and strangle Andrew for the ending. I never expected the ending however I absolutely LOVED the ending!!! Andrew has been given the name “King of Cliffhangers” for a reason and does not let you down with this book. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series to find out what happens next in the Ali Ryan series.
