Book Review: Just A Number - Fifi Flowers
Synopsis:
Not looking for love. No details. Follow rules and restrictions. Only fun. No feelings. Forever--not an option.
Simple Flings. They were all just a number. Dash Oliver and Willow Dane both shared the same philosophy. That is, until a merger of sorts. Thrown together by fate or serendipity, was their connection... their chemistry... their compatibility enough to convince them that their rules were made to be broken and that they belonged together?
My Thoughts:
Just A Number is a contemporary romance that brings out many things we go through in our lives – acceptance, love, forgiveness, professionalism, equality, and belonging. The premise is unique and entangles yoga with real life of two adults that connect in a way that few people do. While I do not know anything about yoga, I didn’t understand all the terminology used however it did not take away from the story at all. I was not able to connect with the characters in the “yoga” sense however I could connect on the love and undeniable chemistry that Willow and Dash have.
Willow’s mom was a stay at home mom, a trophy wife, that her ideal job was to be a supporting wife to her husband and raise the children. Later in life she learned the basics of using a computer and having an email and began sending Willow emails. Throughout the emails you start learning bits and pieces of Willow’s history and background growing up. Opposite of her mother, you start to understand why Willow is a successful determined business woman in the corporate world. You can understand why Willow is standoffish on men and doesn’t commit to one single man. That is until Dash started breaking down her walls.
Through fate Dash and Willow find themselves in the same places where the chemistry between them sizzles. Unable to deny the sexual sparks, Dash and Willow make the best of the time they have together as long as they stay within the rules – no names, no details.
I enjoyed this contemporary novel with a side of steamy chemistry and humor mixed in. I hope that the series continues as I would like to see more about the couples that we learn about in the end – Tomasina & Rex and Suze & Ian.
