Book Review: Mail Order Bride: AMELIA: The Idealistic Bride for Her Insecure Rancher (A Frontier Wes

Synopsis:

It's 1870, California, and in this series love flourishes in the simple town of Goldrush when three fraught sisters flee New York, desperate to start new lives.. Meet romantic Amelia Archer as she discovers inner strength and the sensitive heart of rancher Jack Blair.

Amelia Archer is almost twenty - a romantic artist and DREAMER by nature... As a matter of fact, she's imagined her wedding day for as long as she can remember.. When she agrees to her sister's Mail Order Bride scheme to save them from the clutches of despicable Lex Baxter, life just can't get better. Amelia is forced to abandon the comforts of New York as she flees to the small town of Goldrush, California, to marry the rancher she's been writing.

Along with a wonderful wedding, her thoughts had often turned to painting the beautiful countryside, and being with her one true love. At last, all her hopes would be fulfilled in the West. The touching and poetic letters from Jack Blair have had Amelia's heart in a spin and she knows he's the perfect husband for her.. Everything had worked out perfectly well.... ...well... until reality struck ....

What will happen when Amelia comes crashing down to earth on a ranch which is more rustic than she expected and nowhere near as romantic as she imagined? Should she simply give up her optimistic dreams and be satisfied with conquering her new lifestyle?

Dashing Jack Blair loves the ranch but hates ranching. He fights inside himself to do what's expected of him and follow his dreams under constant pressure from demanding parents. He's insecure about his future and maybe a bride can help give him hope for the future and renewed determination for raising his cattle. Will he choose his own bride for love and not for her ability to further the family empire?

Can the idealistic Amelia get her head out of the clouds long enough to stave off the insecurities of her rancher? Where will she find strength when her insecure husband doubts his own abilities?

My Thoughts:

After her father left a gambling debt that one of his daughters was to marry the collector of the debt, Amelia’s older sister Adeline came up with a plan to sneak them out. Adeline had found a mail order bride advertisement and decided it was the out the family needed. The second part of Adeline’s scheme was to sneak her sister Amelia to her and have her marry the cousin of her husband.

Amelia and Jack corresponded for some time before she arrived to his homestead. Amelia didn’t get a warm welcome by her soon to be inlaws as they were outright rude towards her. She also finds that her husband rather be a writer then a rancher while she finds she would rather paint than be a rancher’s wife. Together they find a solution that works for both of them that can give them their happy ending.

I downloaded the book without reading the synopsis as I enjoy a good mail order bride series. The only thing that I dislike is the synopsis that is posted online. It is extremely long with run-ons, punctuation errors, and quite a bit of information. If I had read the synopsis first, I would not have read the book. The book was enjoyable but please tweak the synopsis to be a true synopsis.

This is a novella of a typical mail order bride. It was a good read if you like a good love story. It was an enjoyable quick read however I wish it was a little longer with some additional detail.
