My Thoughts:
After her father left a gambling debt that one of his daughters was to marry the collector of the debt, Averill’s oldest sister Adeline came up with a plan to sneak them out. Adeline had found a mail order bride advertisement and decided it was the out the family needed. The last part of Adeline’s scheme was to sneak her sister Averill and her mother out.
Averill was to marry the brother of her oldest sister’s husband. Averill doesn’t like any man that drinks while her soon-to-be husband uses alcohol to dissolve his problems – that is until he became sheriff. Now that he has met Averill, he vows to protect her from anything and any other man. When the debt collector came to town wanting to settle her father’s debt, Averill and Jacob get together with the family to come up with a solution.
This is a novella of a typical mail order bride. It was a good read if you like a good love story. It was an enjoyable quick read and I liked how their mother got her happy ending as well.
