Book Review: Through Paige's Eyes: A Confidence Book - Self-Worth (Confidence #1) - Melanie Mace

Synopsis:

People say they admire a strong woman...until one has the confidence to defend her high standard of self-worth. Growing up with a beautiful mother isn't always easy. Especially when you look just like her and she happens to be the woman most men crave...and have tasted. Paige Nelson is sexually conservative, thanks in part to having a hyper-sexual mother. Her mother flaunts her figure while Paige does everything to hide hers. She would love to experience a satisfying, physical relationship just once in her life. As of high school graduation, she has yet to find someone who hasn't slept with her mother and would date her just for the opportunity to compare the two. Paige moves three thousand miles away in order to get a fresh start. Not only does Paige discover a passion for history, she finds someone who loves her for herself and does everything to show her that she is worthy of respect. Thanks to his love, she finds her confidence and realizes that enjoying sex does not make her a slut, nor does denying someone sex make her a cold-hearted bitch.

My Thoughts:

This book was great! It has a unique premise that kept you intrigued and wondering what could happen next. There were several twists in the story that you don’t see coming. After reading so many books with the same story this was refreshing to read as you are reading a book that you have not read before. The writing flowed smoothly and the characters were relatable and likeable (except the mother, she is very unlikeable and a witch, which she was intentionally written to be that way).

As you read the book you can relate to the characters and understand what they are going through and feeling. Sometimes you want to smack a character for being such a witch and not seeing what is in front of their eyes. Other times your heart breaks for the hardships and trying times that a person goes through. Really, how much wrong should a person have to go through before they get their happy ending? No matter what Paige pulls through all the bumps in the road, all the nasty hits that her own mother likes to throw at her and ends up being a stronger person.

If you are looking for prince charming, then Carter is definitely your man. I don’t want to give away the book so I won’t go in to detail but you will find yourself drawn to Carter. You will want to snatch him up for yourself. Carter shows you that there are good guys still out there and that if you give it time you will find your prince and have your happily ever after.

I loved how the ending came together and created more than just a happy ending for the two main characters together – Paige and Carter. It shows that no matter what happens a family can come together and do what is right and be a family once again. Heartaches with forgiveness can go a long way to smooth a bumpy relationship. You can tell the author put a lot of thought into the ending. If you enjoy reading a book with a unique premise that keeps your attention from beginning to end, then you need to pick this one up and read it!

Note: This book is part of a series however it is a complete standalone. The books in the series do not need to be read in order.
