Book Review: Silver Bells at Moonglow by Deborah Garner
Genre: Contemporary Fiction - Holidays (Novella)
Book: Silver Bells at Moonglow
Author: Deborah Garner
My Rating: ★★★★
Synopsis:
Christmas at the Timberton Hotel arrives each year with a unique set of guests, some returning, some new. When this holiday brings a celebrity seeking reprieve, sisters who are distant yet closer to each other than they think, a widow approaching a new horizon, and an eclectic smattering of local townsfolk and visiting relatives, the season is certain to be eventful. Add in a hint of romance and there's more than snow in the air around the small Montana town. Elegant decor and exquisite cuisine from resident artist and chef, Mist, form a backdrop to much needed camaraderie, bringing strangers and friends together. When the last note of Christmas carols has faded away, the soft whisper of silver bells from the front door's wreath will usher guests and townsfolk alike back into the world with hope for the coming year.
My Thoughts:
This novella is a perfect holiday story filled with kindness and a just a small hint of romance. This book will put you in the holiday mood with the mention of all the delicious cookies and the goodness that is spread throughout.
The way Ms. Garner writes you can picture just how the hotel is decorated, how inviting each guest room is, and your mouth will water with anticipation for the cookies while your nose is surely smelling them baking in the oven. There is so much description in the book that you feel like you are living vicariously through the different characters. You get the feeling you are there in the small charming town that welcomes visitors and makes them feel like they belong there.
I recommend Deborah Garner’s books to anyone looking for a sweet clean read with just a hint of romance mixed in. A refreshing read!
