Book Review: Winds of Paradise (Paradise Valley Book 2) by Vivi Holt
Genre: Christian Western Romance
Book: Winds of Paradise (Paradise Valley Book 2)
Author: Vivi Holt
My Rating: ★★★★★
Synopsis:
Dusty Lewis has a hard heart. Years of loose living and of following the open trail have left him lonely and empty inside. All he has left, all he loves, is the homesteading life and the band of fellow ranch hands who he traveled with from Fort Worth Texas, to Montana Territory, to set up a new life.
Paradise Ranch is his home now: he’s come to terms with not having a family of his own. That is until he meets Jane Wilder. She’s running from a troubled past as well, but that past is about to catch up with her.
When the two of them are forced to work together on the run down schoolhouse where Jane is the schoolmistress, she does everything she can to keep her secret safe while he fights his growing attraction to her.
A tragedy throws them together again, and they must each choose whether to follow the path of fear or love, honesty or lies. Can their love overcome the sins of the parents, or will Jane and Dusty miss their chance at happiness?
My Thoughts:
Parents’ choices can be a burden for a child!
The saying goes that a child’s actions reflect on the parents however in this story it is the opposite – the parent’s actions reflected on the child. Jane Wilder was left with a mess due to her parent’s wrong doings that haunted her for years. Jane has to face cruelty from society once they find out about her parent’s and what “bad” people they were. Unfortunately, Jane lets this affect her as she tries to keep a closed heart thinking it would keep her from getting hurt. In reality, this has an opposite effect as it tends to hurt her even more.
Dusty, a ranch hand at Jane’s cousin’s ranch, is determined to break down the walls that Jane has built up and claim her as his. Little by little, day by day, Dusty puts on his charm and seeks to win Jane over however he has his own self-doubt and doesn’t know if someone of Jane’s stature would be happy and love him.
Vivi Holt spins a remarkable tale in such a way that it will keep you entertained from beginning to end. She does a great job of bringing the couple together while handling their doubts and fears to draw them even closer together as a couple. V. Holt brings the story to life with love and affection that will keep you reading and not want to put the book down.
Vivi Holt does it again with the second book in the Paradise Valley series. It was just what I have come to expect from this talented author. I recommend Winds of Paradise to anyone that likes to read sweet romance with a happily-ever-after ending.
