Book Review: Master of Love (Book B!tches Series, Book 2) by Anne Conley

Genre: Mystery, Thriller, Suspense Romance

Book: Master of Love (Book B!tches Series, Book 2)

Author: Anne Conley

My Rating: ★★★★

Synopsis:

Welcome to Mystic, Texas, where the past stays alive in more ways than one. Tiffany Masters is desperate for a fresh start after the loss of her husband. Landing in Mystic, she soon learns the town has as many secrets as she does. The local book club, The Book B!tches, gives her the courage to be herself without worrying about adult things, like bills, parenting, and supper. However, her new boss may be more than she can handle. Nick takes pride in his business. Being the only bar owner in town has its challenges, the biggest being his new employee. Tiffany’s a fireball—sexy as hell, with a temper to match—and off-limits. She’s got kids; he’s been there, done that, didn’t care to get the t-shirt. When their heated attraction sparks a spat, the sheriff gives them an ultimatum: settle their shit or go to jail. He’s got a crime to solve—a woman’s dead, Wren’s still missing, and there’s another possible victim. Mystic may have a serial killer on the loose. **While this has a complete story arc, there are elements to the series that the author strongly recommends you read the first book in the series, The Power of Love, before this one.**

My Thoughts:

This is the second book of the Book B!tches series. I recommend reading the first book before reading this one to get a complete understanding of everything going on.

Master of Love tells the story of Tiffany and Nick. They sexual tension and connection between them is strong however Nick really doesn’t want to have anything to do with a woman that has a child. With that much tension it is hard to deny and stay away from the pull each time that they are together. Mingled throughout the book is “ghosts” that like to pull pranks and push things in the direction that they want things to go. You never know when one might appear or what it will do. The whole town knows of the ghosts but for a newcomer you would think you are going a little looney.

This story has a lot of suspense and surprises that will keep you guessing throughout. Mrs. Conley does a great job of keeping the mystery while spinning a tale of romance within. The story has an interesting plot that will keep you engaged from beginning to end. This book will have you laughing and crying at the same time. There is even a surprise visit from the Pierce Security hunks. Even though the book has a paranormal feel to it with the ghosts that lurk about, it is not like reading a typical paranormal book. It is really more mystery and suspense with a touch of romance with a few ghosts mingled throughout.

Overall this book was a unique and fantastic read with characters that you could connect to. If you want a book that has some mystery and romance with some paranormal mingled in, then this is the book for you.
